Top Metal Builders of 2008Date: May 1 2009 12:00AM URL:  With all the doom and gloom being reported on a daily basis, it’s time to take a step back and appreciate the silver lining. In this case, the silver lining comes from a list of the Top 100 Metal Builders based on tonnage and square footage from 2008. For the past 19 years, Metal Construction News has received entry forms submitted by companies from across the U.S. and Canada showing the incredible amount of metal used in the construction industry. Looking at last year’s numbers is the silver lining—something to inspire everyone to reach for even higher numbers this year and for many years to come.This year’s leader in both categories is Span Construction & Engineering Inc. based in Madera, Calif. Affiliated with Butler Manufacturing, Kansas City, Mo., Span Construction is responsible for the design and construction of steel building projects. According to the company’s Web site, it is “a service-inspired firm with a team-driven approach to building.” Congratulations Span Construction & Engineering!
