Designed to honor
Huntingburg, Ind.'s long tradition and strong ties to the railroad,
the exterior of the Huntingburg Event Center closely resembles the
Southern Railway Depot that once stood near downtown
Huntingburg.
Inside, there's a
replica of the station's octagon ticket counter area with its
50-foot- (15-m-) high open ceiling plan. The grand lobby has
35-foot- (11-m-) high cathedral ceilings and three large
chandeliers. The facility features three main dining halls that can
open up to seat as many as 1,000 at tables or 1,600 in
theater-style.
Additionally, two
small meeting rooms seat 50 each, and a conference room seats 10.
The center also has two catering kitchens, a loading dock and a
ramp with a garage door for vehicles to drive into the
building.
Completed in July
2007, the facility utilizes a 6-inch (152-mm) light-gauge steel
stud frame metal building by American Buildings Co. The
24,296-square-foot (2,257-m2) building also features an
Architectural Metal Systems Standing Seam 360 roof in Aluminum. The
Insulated Wall Panels have a heavy stucco finish in Light Stone and
are coated with a SmartKote 70 percent PVDF resin supplied as Kynar
500 or Hylar 500 by BASF.
