Construction on the re-roofing of the Northeast
Technology Center began in March 2011 and was completed in May. Due
to age and weather, there were leaks in the existing structure.
Additionally, roof top units were in place that needed to remain
and the front entry canopy needed to be added.
The new front entry canopy was added as a typical structural
canopy. Pipe columns were provided, as well as 8-inch zee rafters
heading back to the original structure. Metallic Building Co.
supplied its NuRoof metal roofing system that was then added to the
top of the canopy and continued on to the existing flat roof,
resulting in a continuous 4:12 single-slope roof that tied in the
new canopy and eliminated the existing roof leakage. An advantage
to the NuRoof system was that Farrell Construction was able to use
recycled metal to re-roof the structure instead of utilizing a
rubber flat roof again, which helped provide a long-term solution
for the leaking roof and a more aesthetically pleasing project
overall.
