Additional
stimulus funding created an increase in government projects during
2010. One such project was reroofing an officers' headquarters
building at Camp Lejeune.
ATAS International Inc. supplied 14,208 square feet of Dutch
Seam (MRD150), 0.040-inch aluminum standing-seam roofing panels;
8,136 square feet of Design Wall (DSF120), 0.040-inch aluminum
12-inch flush wall panels; and 6,856 square feet of vented Wind-lok
Soffit (MPV), 0.032-inch aluminum 12-inch soffit panels. All
materials are finished in a Sandstone color. The metal roofing,
which was selected by the roofing contractor, was installed over
the existing flat roof.
The camp was built in 1941 and now has: 156,000 acres; 11 miles
of beach for amphibious operations; 32 gun positions; 48 tactical
landing zones; three state-of-the-art training facilities for
Military Operations in Urban Terrain; and 80 live fire ranges,
including the Greater Sandy Run Training Area. About 180,000 people
populate the camp as a civilian employee, retiree, active duty
member or dependent.
"Government projects have many more requirements in terms of the
submittal process, performance specifications and warranties," says
Jim Bush, vice president of sales for ATAS. "But it is all worth it
in the end to have a successful project that impacts the work and
lives of members of the military."
