The first private psychiatric facility in Delaware, the Rockford
Center features a new expansion and renovation designed by Array
Healthcare Facilities Solutions in 2011. The original center was
built in 1974 as a 55-bed unit, and over the years has grown into a
118-bed unit with additional inpatient and outpatient services. The
center features 1,058 square feet of 0.032-inch aluminum Belvedere
(BWK360) wall panels in Classic Bronze from ATAS International Inc.
The panels act as vertical wall accents, producing a subtle yet
noticeable, aesthetic effect on the space.
According to Jim Bush, vice president of sales for ATAS, "This
project illustrates how well metal integrates with other building
materials. At the same time, it shows how metal can be added to
accent a particular design feature. By adding vertical metal wall
panels around the windows, the designers created different depths,
textures and shadows to the building, which creates an inviting
space for the patients."
