Holiday Inn, Houma, La.

Posted 09/1/2009

CPI Daylighting was asked to provide a solution after the three-story hotel was devastated by a hurricane. The hotel's original 2,200-square foot (204-m2) entry canopy used flat sheet polycarbonate white cell technology panels that were damaged and blown out from the conventional aluminum glazing rafter system during the storm. The hotel owner, Kevin Patel of Cajun Lodging LLC, asked CPI to glaze over what was left of the existing steel structure for a stronger, tighter system. The project utilized CPI's 0.63-inch (16-mm) Pentaglas low-rise vault system configured to meet South Florida and Dade County Hurricane Resistance performance requirements. The Pentaglas' nanocell technology provides long-term resistance to impact and wind loading with its small cell structure and tightly spaced rib supports.
