This 100-year-old home became something more exciting to see
with the addition of a metal roof in 2010. According to Chuck
Wheeler, safety officer and sales manager for JDM Roofing, the
homeowner had metal roofing installed on other properties and liked
the metal so much that he added one to this home, as well.
Wheeler adds, "A lot of homes in the area are going back to
metal because of durability and because the metal roofs just look
good."
The new roof is approximately 6,000 square feet of the 24-gauge
steel Dutch Seam (MRD150) panels in Teal from ATAS International
Inc.
The metal roof was installed directly over the previous asphalt
shingles. Wheeler says the unique roof shape with its different
areas and pitches required more planning and preparation, but the
crew faced no challenges during installation.
"The metal roof changes the look of the home 100 percent,"
Wheeler says. "Of all the homes in town, if you rode down that
street, this is the home you would select. The metal roof really
makes it stand out."
