Auto Tech Repair, a three-bay automotive service shop built in the 1960s, was in need of restoration. Mark and Karen White, owners, hired EPOC Construction Inc., a Varco Pruden builder, to renovate the shop, transform the exterior and add two bays.

Varco Pruden Building's pre-engineered metal building system provides a clear span frame and single-slope roof. The single-slope metal roof eliminated flashing details along the front, highside eave and created a clean transition over the existing parapet endwall.

EPOC Construction utilized Varco Pruden Building's Rigid Frame system, Panel Rib wall system in Cool Egyptian White, and SSR standing seam roof system in Galvalume. Stepped-width frames were used for angled rear walls and along rear bays. Additionally, wind beams were incorporated on the stud and parapet façade.

The project was funded, in part, by a city grant program for façade improvement. Mark White says since the façade was completed his shop has drawn attention from the busy highway near his business. "We have had several new customers tell us they previously passed by every day and never really noticed us," he says. "Since this makeover, our business has increased by at least one-third from our normal business volume."
