Agriculture & Self Storage

Barrett Warehouse, Lake Park, Ga.

Quillian Powell Construction Co. Inc., an American Buildings Co. authorized builder, used 21.7 tons of metal material to build a storage unit that also functions as a hangout spot.

Quillian Powell designed the 5,000-square-foot, rustic-inspired building, which houses an antique collection of John Deere two-cylinder tractors and vehicles and also serves as a weekend getaway, with American Building Co.'s Terra Cotta-colored shadow panels for the walls and Standing Seam II roof panels in Polar White to resemble an old barn. The 3-foot overhang on all sides contributes to the building's look, and imitation attic doors with an X at the gables, downspouts and sectional garage doors correspond with the rustic theme.

Quillian Powell was awarded first place in the agricultural category of American Buildings' 2014 Excellence in Design Awards, which recognize builders and roofers for innovation in design and metal systems construction.
