More than 30,000 square feet of Kingspan Insulated Panels Inc.'s BENCHMARK Designwall 2000 Horizontal 2-inch-thick insulated metal panels (IMP) with a smooth finish were installed on Davis Wade Stadium at Mississippi State University to complement existing campus architecture. The expansion, completed in August 2014, increased the stadium's capacity and added concession areas, restrooms and a west-side concourse. The project was phased over two years and construction was sequenced so the Mississippi State University Bulldogs football team could use the stadium without interruption.

LPK Architects PA provided construction and renovation design services for the project and 360 Architecture was a sports consultant for the $75 million expansion of the north end zone and renovation of the west-side concourse.

James Ruckman, AIA, CSI, southeast regional sales manager at Kingspan Insulated Panels, says he believes IMPs will continue to be installed as standard cladding on commercial buildings in the future. "This single building material meets architects' requirements for aesthetics, exterior skin, weather barrier and insulation," he says.

The stadium was originally constructed in 1914 and the student body adopted a resolution to name it Scott Field in 1920 for Don Scott, an Olympic sprinter and former Mississippi State University football player. Prior to the 2000 season the stadium was renamed Davis Wade Stadium in recognition of Mississippi State University supporter Floyd Davis Wade Sr., who made a large financial contribution toward a stadium expansion that increased the facility's capacity to 61,337. The playing turf retained the name Scott Field.
