Approximately 30,000 square feet of Umicore Building Products USA Inc.'s perforated VMZ Composite panel in QUARTZ-ZINC were used to construct walls for Maricopa County Sheriff's office. The VMZ Composite panels were installed on a wall-mounted framework as part of a ventilated façade. VMZ Composite is a multilayered panel made of two sheets of zinc and thermo-glued on either side of a polyethylene core for optimum reaction to fire. The panels protect the interior from the elements and add a contemporary look. Additionally, Kovach Building Enclosures supplied standing seam metal roof panels with a pre-weathered Galvalume finish for the project.

The building is LEED Silver certified. Gabor Lorant Architects Inc. was the architecture firm, and D.L. Withers Construction LLC was the general contractor. Gabor Lorant Architects received the 2014 Arizona Forward Environmental Award of Merit in the category of civic buildings and structures for the 132,000-square-foot project, completed in March 2014.
