Workiva Inc., Ames, IowaFEH Associates Inc. designed Workiva Inc.'s two headquarters buildings so the soffit panels were installed after the wall panels. This method addressed the installation challenge presented by the project's serpentine roofline. The top row of wall panels was designed to appear like it disappears behind the soffit.

The project was planned in two phases. SGH Inc. installed 15,000 square feet of Dri-Design's 0.08-inch aluminum panels in Pewter during phase one and 17,000 square feet of the same panels during phase two. The two buildings span 120,000 square feet.

Jeff Alkema, of SGH, says he appreciates a true rainscreen product was used. "When this system is installed correctly, it has a very unique architectural appearance that does not change or require maintenance over time," he says.

Sustainable features included skylights, energy-efficient shades and products made with recycled content. Native prairie plants were used to landscape the outdoor areas where there are additional workspaces. Workiva is located near Iowa State University in Ames, in ISU Research Park. The project was completed in October 2014.
