Row on row of copper seams recede into the distance, offering a visual doppler effect. The new roof on Austin Hall at Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, Texas, invigorates and protects the oldest building west of the Mississippi River to be used continuously by an educational institution. After the existing stainless steel roof was removed, the Hall was reroofed with a 20-ounce copper standing seam roof from McElroy Metal, Bossier City, La. The Texas Historical Commission ensured the new roof would be as historically accurate as possible.
