Judging representatives evaluate the nominations based on the following criteria:

Longevity: Honorees must have been actively involved in the industry for at least 15 years.

Unique Contribution: The creation or development of a specific aspect or segment of business that has advanced the industry.

Body of Work: The depth and breadth of contribution to the industry throughout a career.

Legacy: The honoree’s contribution must have had a long-lasting impact on the industry.

Integrity: Honorees must exhibit the highest ethical and professional standards in all aspects of business.

It’s difficult for the judges to make these assessments. They rely on each other to help fill out information about nominees, and judges often will take on the role of advocating for a particular nominee. The discussions are robust and revealing.

Over the years, we’ve had many judges, but without exception, each has held the same basic principle. Just being involved in the metal construction industry is not enough to warrant inclusion in the Metal Construction Hall of Fame. An honoree has to have accomplished something that affected the industry in a way that was felt by other people in the industry.

This year was no exception. The honorees have served the industry with distinction and we are all better off for their involvement.

The honorees for 2017 are:

The founders are:

I wanted to offer a special thanks to our judges for this year.

In April, Metal Construction News will host the Metal Construction Industry Summit that will include the Hall of Fame Luncheon. Industry leaders will be invited to Chicago to address the shortage of skilled labor, and during that event we will recognize this year’s honorees. We hope to make the summit an annual event that has a positive impact on the industry. Please look for more information on it in the coming months.
