2022 Metal Construction Hall of Fame

During the opening reception for the Metal Building Contractors & Erectors 53rd annual conference held jointly with the Metal Building Manufacturers Association, six honorees were inducted to the Metal Construction Hall of Fame. The event took place in Tucson, Ariz., April 27, and more than 200 people welcomed these six innovators into the Hall.

This year’s class represents the breadth of the industry from product development through construction and product installation, but one thing is constant along that line—a devotion to both excellence and modernization. Every one of these honorees helped change the world in which we work, and that extends to the world beyond construction.

This is the 10th year for the Hall of Fame, and we are grateful for the participation of our partners at the Metal Building Manufacturers Association, the Metal Construction Association and the Metal Building Contractors & Erectors Association.

Please welcome the 2022 Metal Construction Hall of Fame inductees (follow the links to read more about them):

• Angelo Borzillo[1] was the co-inventor of Galvalume, a building material that changed the actual face of the metal construction industry.
• Ken Buchinger[2] helped lay the foundation for the resilience and reliability of metal building components, ensuring that the industry met specific standards.
• Arthur Hance[3], through his advocacy and articulation, pushed for metal building contractors and erectors to improve quality and maintain excellence in the industry.
• Al Kessel[4] (1942-2021) was the co-creator of the Systems Builders Association in the Carolinas and led that chapter during the transition to the Metal Building Contractors & Erectors Association.
• Harry R. Lowe[5] grew Nucor Building Systems into a national brand and directed the development of the Metal Building Manufacturers Association’s accreditation program.
• Michael F. Petersen[6] led Petersen Aluminum Corp. from a $5 million per year company to one doing more than $260 million and became an industry leader through adaptation and innovation.
