The metal construction industry is about people, and it is for that reason that Metal Construction News is excited to announce the creation of the Metal Construction Hall of Fame, to recognize the accomplishments of the people who have built this industry. We wanted to honor those who have made significant contributions to the success, innovation and growth of the metal construction industry.
On the following pages, we offer profiles of the members of the inaugural class of the Metal Construction Hall of Fame, showcasing their accomplishments, experience and influence on the industry. The inaugural members of the Metal Construction Hall of Fame are:
- Dick Bus, ATAS International Inc.[1]
- Dave Fulton, Triangle Fastener Corp.[2]
- Rob Haddock, S-5![3]
- Gill Harris, Ceco Building Systems[4]
- Robert Ketenbrink, Spacemark Inc.[5]
- John Lawrence, Modern Trade Communications[6]
- Raymond A. Miller Jr., Fleming Building Co.[7]
- Marvin K. Snyder, Butler Manufacturing[8]
The group is divided into three categories so we can recognize the full breadth of the industry.
Manufacturers/Suppliers are those honorees who predominantly work to create and improve products for the metal construction industry.
Contractors/Installers are honorees who work in the field and install the products, whether they are a general contractor or a trade contractor.
The final group is Friends of the Industry. These people have had a huge influence on the industry through their promotion of metal construction or their independent efforts to innovate.
An independent panel of judges selected the candidates based on five criteria:
- Unique Contribution: The creation or development of a specific aspect or segment of business that has advanced the industry.
- Body of Work: The depth and breadth of contribution to the industry throughout a career. • Longevity: Honorees must have been actively involved in the industry for at least 15 years.
- Legacy: The honoree’s contribution must have had a long-lasting impact on the industry.
- Integrity: Honorees must exhibit the highest ethical and professional standards in all aspects of business.
The judges represented major industry associations and Modern Trade Communications as the major underwriter of the Hall of Fame. They were:
- Tim Seyler, President, Metal Building Contractors & Erectors Association
- Fred Koetting, Chairman, Metal Building Manufacturers Association
