Houston-based Architectural Building Components has completed 60,000 square feet of new roof construction on the Duncan and McMurtry Colleges at the Rice University campus in Houston. Architectural Building Components provided detailed measurements and production planning to cut precise top and bottom roof panel widths, similar to cutting a pie into 100 evenly sliced pieces. Architectural Building Components provided the durable DuraZinc 200DL panel – made exclusively from zinc — for both colleges, which will withstand Houston’s varying weather conditions for the majority of the 21st century. Linbeck was the general contractor; Sir Michael Hopkins of Hopkins Architects (USA) served as design architect; Hanbury Evans Wright Vlattas + Company served as executive architect; Marton Roofing was the roofing contractor for this project.
