Nucor Building Systems (NBS)[1], a Nucor Company[2], honored Star Transit[3] for using 100-percent American-made Nucor steel in the construction of its new operational complex in Terrell, Texas. Glen Schoech, vice president of Tegrus Construction Co. Inc.[4], recently presented a “Buy American” plaque to several board members and general manager, Omega Ann Hawkins, at Star Transit.
By using a NBS metal building system, which is made of Nucor steel, Star Transit is helping to create and maintain U.S. manufacturing jobs. All of Nucor steel is made in America. By supporting these efforts, Star Transit is playing an important role in stimulating the U.S. economy. In addition, Star Transit is positively impacting the environment by choosing Nucor steel, which is made of 85 percent recycled materials.
“Nucor Building Systems is proud to honor Star Transit for its dedication to using Nucor steel and products that are made in our community, and in the U.S.,” said Tom Batterbee, general manager for the Terrell, Texas office of Nucor Building Systems. “It’s great to work with a community partner that understands the importance of keeping manufacturing jobs in America.”
Nucor Building Systems builder, Tegrus Construction, was the contractor on the 10,000-square-foot building. Star Transit, a rural public transportation provider for senior citizens, will use the new structure as bus storage. Tegrus also remodeled an existing structure in order to accommodate offices, a training room, dispatch and additional support. Serving several counties, including Kaufman, Rockwall, Ellis and Navarro, Star Transit is a part of Kaufman County Senior Citizen Services, Inc.
