For the fourth straight year, the International Roofing Expo® [IRE] is hosting Community Service Day, a one-day event held prior to the show where attendees and exhibitors volunteer to help renovate homes of families in need.
Taking place on Monday, February 4, from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm, the International Roofing Expo has partnered with Rebuilding Together San Antonio, a non-profit, volunteer-based program that repairs and rehabilitates homes and non-profit community facilities, as well as NRCA’s Disaster Relief Committee.
Community Service Day is sponsored by Canton, MA-based Sika Sarnafil, a leading manufacturer of single-ply vinyl roofing and waterproofing systems known for superior performance with minimal environmental impact, who will be exhibiting in booth #746.
“International Roofing Expo is so pleased to once again partner with Rebuilding Together in the spirit of community service to help renovate the homes of those less fortunate,” said Lindsay Roberts, Group Director of the Expo. “The renovations made to these houses will make a real difference in the lives of the families.”
Renovations will be performed on the home of Concepcion and Enrique Merendon. Unemployed and disabled, Mr. Merendon receives dialysis treatment for his kidney, has permanent back injuries, as well as nerve problems in leg. Volunteers will be providing work on the home such as replacing windows, installing security doors, siding, painting, and more.
Fort Worth-based Benco Commercial Roofing completed the initial component of this project by replacing the roof on the Merendon’s house.
Renovations will also take place on the home of Maria Luna, a grandmother raising four grandchildren alone. Repairs are needed to the front and back porch, the eaves of the roof, the skirting on the home, as well as painting and property cleanup.
“Rebuilding Together has long represented the American spirit of volunteerism and helping others,” said Bill Good, Executive Vice President of NRCA, the show’s official sponsor. “We are very appreciative of the exhibitor and attendees who have signed up for this terrific event.”
