MCA announces Chairman’s Award winners

The Metal Construction Association (MCA)[1] announced its Chairman’s Award winners for 2019. The judging panel of architects included:

The Chairman’s Awards go to exceptional buildings involving MCA member companies. The criteria include overall appearance, significance of metal in the project, innovative use of metal and the role of metal in achieving project objectives. Winners in six categories were selected.

Overall Excellence and Commercial/Industrial: Great Northern Way Pavilion, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Education – Colleges and Universities: Engineering and Computer Science West, University of Texas at Dallas, Richardson, Texas

Institutional: Menil Drawing Institute, Houston

Municipal: Calgary Public Library, Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Roofing: Steeple Square, Dubuque, Iowa

Residential: Keller Court Commons, Petaluma, Calif.

Award recipients were chosen from projects submitted by MCA members to Metal Architecture[2] magazine’s annual Design Awards program.
