Slitter automates knife switch

MetalForming Inc.’s Krasser Legionnaire features a 49.2-inch width capacity, a slitting rate of 100 feet per minute, 20-gauge slitting capacity with five knives, 24-gauge slitting capacity with eight knives, a minimum strip width between knives of 2.25 inches, a motor driven guillotine shear and is available with automated threeroll straightening. The automated slitter has touch controls on a display screen and diagonal cutting is done by a guillotine shear. Operators can automatically change five sets of slitting knives in less than 30 seconds with a slitting accuracy of 1/32-inch, and, with a control upgrade, can expand the slitter with up to eight knives.
