To create a modern exterior on Belton High School, O’Connell Robertson and Associates Inc. specified a combination of flat and corrugated metal wall panels. O’Connell Robertson blended the metal panels with brick and limestone traditional in the region.

Kurt Schwerdtfeger, associate at O’Connell Robertson, says, “The key thing was this facility needed to be contemporary. [School district officials] were trying to bridge the gap between a traditional high school and really what they thought the future of education was going to be.”

Texas Roofing Co. installed Petersen Aluminum Corp.’s 22-gauge steel, flat, concealed fastener Reveal panels in Weathered Zinc and 22-gauge PAC-CLAD Precision Series HWP corrugated panels with a Galvalume Plus finish. For soffits at the entrance and an interior cafeteria wall, Texas Roofing installed Petersen’s 22-gauge steel Flush panels.

Michael Meraz, operations manager at Texas Roofing, says the biggest challenge was sequencing work with other trades, especially the exterior water sealing installers. “That was definitely the hardest part, because it was such a large scope,” he says. “You kind of have to work hand-in-hand together daily to knock out areas of construction.”
