To handle an increasing demand for olive oil, the Corto Olive contracted with Roland Construction to build an 8,000-square-foot (743-m2) warehouse and tank storage addition to its existing facility. Using Varco Pruden Building’s Clear Span Rigid Frame system, the builder incorporated two separate rooms in the addition. One is a 55- by 80-foot (17- by 24-m) tank room with a 45 2/3-foot (14-m) eave that contains 15 30,000-gallon (114,000- L) stainless-steel storage tanks. The size of the tanks and the timing of their installation created a unique construction challenge. Some purlins and roof panels were temporarily left off to allow for fully assembled tanks to be set in place with cranes. The second room is a 45- by 80- by 22-foot (14- by 24- by 7-m) dry storage area with a unibeam lean-to framing system. All structural materials received a field-applied finish coat of latex enamel. The insulated roof panels are 4 inches (102 mm) thick and R-34, while the insulated wall panels are 3 inches (76 mm) thick and R-25. Both wall and roof panels feature a urethane core. The exterior wall finish is a Patina Green to match the existing mill building colors.
