To expand Danfoss Turbocor Inc.’s manufacturing, research and development and office building, Conn and Associates Architects designed two metal building systems that attach to existing metal buildings and form a V-shape. One building has one floor and the other has two floors. Together, they added 29,620 square feet to the facility. In between the buildings, there is a courtyard.

The addition has parapets at the perimeter with welded aluminum interior gutters. Tube steel headers support continuous runs of store- front and exterior stud walls. Straight columns with a majority of bays more than 30 feet with no interior columns provide clear space.

Sperry and Associates Inc., general contractor for the project, erected two of Vulcan Steel Structures Inc.’s metal building systems with bar joists and decking. At roofs, Sperry installed MBCI’s 24-gauge Galvalume Super- Lok standing seam roof system. Sperry insulated the roof with Bay Insulation Systems Inc.’s R-30 banded insulation system.
