A brightly colored pattern of blue, gray and white panels clad the exterior of Elmer Buchta Entrepreneurship Technology Center. Hafer specified a metal rainscreen system for the 8,500-square-foot, modern business incubator building.
To ensure the rainscreen panels fit precisely, John W. McDougall Co. Inc. employees used a high-definition laser scanner to map the dimensions of the building’s frame.
John W. McDougall supplied its GENESIS rainscreen system with aluminum plate panels for the project. The system, installed by Midwest Roofing-Sheet Metal, has 1/2-inch-wide by 1 3/4-inch-deep panel joints.
Linetec finished the panels using four colors: Bone White, Cityscape Gray, Regal Blue and Siam Blue. Linetec used two 70% PVDF-resin based architectural coating systems: Sherwin-Williams Coil Coatings’ Fluropon for the gray and blues, and PPG Industries Inc.’s Duranar for the white.
Teshome Tulu, project manager at John W. McDougall, says, “GENESIS provides a unique look along with easy installation. It attaches straight to the wall without shims or caulking. We have used the panel system on other projects, but this was the first to use it solely on the whole job with multiple colors. We have been partnering with Linetec for many years. We are very satisfied with their performance and quality. They meet our deadlines and help us provide better solutions.”
