Since a creek floodplain covers much of the site for Fayetteville Montessori Elementary School, only a small triangle was available for building space. Marlon Blackwell Architects designed the two-story, 8,000-squarefoot school with a triangular ground floor and rectangular box for the second floor that extends over the floodplain and rests on a column. The modern structure is clad with a combination of cypress and Metal Sales Manufacturing Corp.’s corrugated metal wall panels in Valspar Corp.’s Fluropon Dark Bronze coating. The panels were specified to complement the cypress and contribute to a modern exterior.
