A project goal for Flagler Construction Equipment’s renovation was to transform a metal structure into a contemporary, two-story building with an outdoor merchandise display case, interior lobby and staircase. McNICHOLS Co. supplied approximately 768 square feet
(64 3-foot by 6-foot panels) 0.04-gauge perforated aluminum panels with 1/4-inch holes on 3/8-inch staggered centers, corrugated for the project, completed in 2014. The material is supported by beams painted Silver-Brite aluminum to match the perforated metal panels.

The 9-foot by 32-foot outdoor retail display case is supported with 7-inch by 7-inch metal beams and topped with a 9-foot-high, corrugated, perforated, aluminum wall panels. Backlighting provides nighttime visibility of Flagler Construction Equipment’s backhoe loaders, pipe-layers, compactors, asphalt pavers and other heavy-duty equipment.

Perforated metal panels were used for light diffusion; corrugated panels were designed to appear translucent from a distance. Metal was specified for its compatibility with the existing metal building, durability, minimal maintenance and aesthetics.
