[1]Douglas Huber Architects LLC designed the exterior of Foundations Church with a combination of flat, light-colored exterior insulation finishing system (EIFS) and, in contrast, black, corrugated metal panels installed horizontally.
“Metal was used to provide aesthetic appeal by contrasting the light color of the flat EIFS wall finish with a horizontal black Wave metal panel,” says Robert Engler, territory manager at McElroy Metal. “With the black band of ribbed horizontal Wave panels around the top and over the entrances, the building stands out significantly and provides attractive curb appeal. This appears to be a trend in the architectural design world in utilization of a dark color, such as McElroy’s Matte Black, as an accent and even a featured color contrasting with brighter light colors.”
On the 2,245.83-m2 (24,174-sf) church, Ascend Construction Services LLC installed McElroy’s 406.4-mm (16-in.) wide, 24-gauge steel Wave corrugated wall panels in Matte Black.
“Making smooth transitions from the architectural horizontal wall panels and the EIFS wall facade, along with the storefront windows and doors presented somewhat of a challenge,” says Engler.
