A metal shake roof that mimics wood shakes replaced a wood shake and asphalt shingle roof on the Hearthstone Historic House Museum. The roof follows the aesthetics of Victorian-era architecture. The roof has steep pitches, complex layouts and multiple layers.
On top of the 9,000-square-foot house, JF Lopez Roofing LLC installed DECRA Roofing Systems Inc.’s DECRA Shake XD metal shakes in Classic Cobblestone.
George Schroeder, executive director at the museum, says, “[The new roof] is indistinguishable from our previous shingle roof and visitors are often surprised when they learn that the Victorian-era roof is actually made of modern, high-grade steel.”
