Henrietta ISD, Henrietta, Texas

Completed in September 2009, the project consists of five different additions, each built between and around the existing school buildings. The additions are all above the existing roofline and flashed into the existing built-up roofs. The gymnasium floor level is 8 feet (2 m) below the existing building and the locker rooms are at three different elevations. To tie the old and new construction together, the walls are predominately masonry.

The builder used the Rigid Frame system from Varco Pruden Buildings. Additional framing included jack beams and spandrel beams. The roof is Varco Pruden’s SSR in Cool Regal White. The fold-painted metal panels above the masonry are TextureClad from Varco Pruden, to give a more architectural look. The panels above the existing built-up roof and Varco Pruden’s cost-effective Panel Rib, painted a custom color to match the TextureClad. The gymnasium is framed with Open Web frames, while Spandrel Beams support the masonry walls. Matching entries were created at the elementary entrance, as well as the high school, cafeteria and gymnasium entrances.
