Architects Hawaii Ltd. specified several metal applications in its design inspired by Polynesian and Hawaiian voyaging for a Joint Traffic Management Center in Hawaii. The firm also designed the threestory, 170,000-square foot facility to create a parklike setting and complement existing buildings in Honolulu’s Capital District.

The façade features a perforated copper screen wall with a pattern of copper bars overlaying the perforated panels. The panels are backlit for nighttime display.

Additionally, metal composite material (MCM) panels in several colors clad the exterior. Also, there are painted aluminum column covers.

For the copper screen wall, Northshore Exteriors Inc. installed 4,000 square feet of NorthClad Rainscreen Solutions’ 0.064-inch-thick Designer Series perforated copper panels.

Northshore also installed 11,000 square feet of 4-mm-thick MCM panels from NorthClad. On the columns, Northshore installed NorthClad’s 0.125-inch-thick aluminum CL Series column covers.
