McLeod Kredell Architects designed a metal building at Middlebury College to be used for a variety of purposes. The 22,000-squarefoot building houses the computer science department and is a swing space for multiple other departments slated for renovations in other buildings during the next few years.
The building features a modern design with cantilevers, layered skin, corrugated siding and fenestration. Common areas frame views of the surrounding landscape.
Naylor and Breen Builders Inc. erected Essex Structural Steel Co. Inc.’s metal building system. The lowest eave is 28 feet, 4 inches, and the highest eave is 35 feet.
At the roof, Naylor and Breen installed Essex’s standing seam roof system in Silver Metallic and Therm-All Inc.’s 12-inch-thick ProLiner banded liner system.
At walls, Naylor and Breen installed two of Essex’s metal wall panels and Therm-All’s 9-inchthick ProLiner banded liner system. The company installed vertical, 16-inch-wide Lok-Seam panels in Silver Metallic and horizontal PBU panels in Charcoal Gray.
