JSP Architecture designed the exterior of the 6,600-square-foot youth building at Riverpark Church in Shreveport, La., with ribbed metal panels. North Shreve Welding and Construction Inc. installed McElroy Metal’s 24-gauge steel Mega-Rib exposed fastener panels in Kynar 500 Charcoal.
Roger A. Johnson, president at North Shreve Welding and Construction, says there were several challenges. “The architect and owner had a vision of what they wanted, and when we met with them, we liked the challenges. Challenge No. 1 was to have a modern look, but yet not so completely different from the 30-year-old building next door,” he says. “It was for the youth, so it needed to have a lot of curb appeal, but not so much the older congregation would think it was ugly. The Mega-Rib panels solved that problem. Challenge No. 2 was a round canopy with only one support. Challenge No. 3 was powder-coated, round metal façade accent elements with LED lighting behind them.”
