Preston T. Phillips Architect designed the Sandra Stetson Aquatic Center at Stetson University with a curved standing seam roof system that resembles an overturned hull of a ship.

Radius panels were installed over the main building. Straight panels were installed over a pavilion and restroom building.

Quality Metals Inc. installed 10,600 square feet of Petersen Aluminum Corp.’s 0.032-inch-thick aluminum PAC-CLAD PAC-150 standing seam roof panels. The mechanically seamed panels are finished in custom Kynar Fluoropon Stetson Green.

The two-story aquatic center houses the university’s intercollegiate rowing teams, a space for water study and research, and non-motorized public recreation access to the lake.

For men’s and women’s rowing, there is storage for dozens of boats on the first floor and training equipment. It also contains the university’s Institute for Water and Environmental Resilience. In addition to rowing competitions, the center is a winter training site for high school and college rowing teams.
