To begin the process of replacing leaky asphalt shingle roofs on Soaring Eagle Casino and Hotel, SME Inc. completed a site assessment and comparative analysis of roofing materials options for the owner, Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. Particularly, the 19-year-old shingle roof was leaking at barrel dormers and internal gutters. Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe chose a standing seam system for its longevity and wind uplift properties.

To provide waterproof sections at critical areas including the top portions of the barrel dormers, portions of flat-locked stainless steel panels were soldered in place. The internal gutters received lapped, riveted and soldered stainless steel liners.

To speed up installation, two installers completed the work: CEI Group LLC and Wendling Sheet Metal Inc. The project utilized 280,200 square feet of Firestone Building Products Co. Inc.’s 16-inch-wide, 24-gauge Galvalume UNA-CLAD UC-6 Double-Lock Standing Seam System in three-coat Hartford Green. The $8 million project was completed in December 2017.
