To maintain the building’s design, copper panels on a dome were replaced with matching panels at The Walters Art Museum.
As part of the reroofing project, Ruff Roofers Inc. repaired wood sheathing and rafters. The company applied GCP Applied Technologies Inc.’s Grace Ice and Water Shield peel-and-stick roof underlayment, and then installed the panels. Ruff Roofers installed 600 square feet of Revere Copper Products Inc.’s 16-ounce copper flat sheets in flat seam panels.
Each row of panels is a different size and tapered. The largest panels are 24 inches long by 18 inches wide; the smallest are 12 inches long by 6 inches wide. To get exact field measurements of each row, Ruff Roofers fabricated panels in its shop. At the top of the dome where the slope is less than 4:12, Ruff Roofers soldered seams.
