The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), Washington, D.C., has unveiled its first official blog, SteelWorks, that will focus on AISI’s public policy agenda and highlight critical policy issues that affect the steel industry. “Along with our website, we hope that SteelWorks will be another valuable source where people can gather information,” AISI President and CEO Thomas J. Gibson commented. “This blog will be used to communicate AISI’s stance on various policies in conjunction with the latest developments on Capitol Hill. In the coming weeks, I will be posting weekly columns about significant issues that we hope Congress will take action on when they return from August recess.”
Gibson’s first post on China’s currency manipulation emphasizes how American manufacturers and workers are being harmed. “Jobs are flying out of our country in the blink of an eye as we allow China to continue to prosper from mercantilistic and market-distorting industrial practices. When Congress returns from its August recess, it must take up and pass immediately the Currency Reform for Fair Trade Act (H.R. 2378) and the Currency Exchange Rate Reform Act of 2010 (S. 3134).” To read more, go to www.mysteelworks.org.
