Better Flooring Inc.’s building has an exterior with a combination of black Kynar steel and weathering steel. Better Enterprises Inc., which owns the building, was the general contractor.
Ron Heskett, president at Borga Steel Buildings and Components Inc., says, “Better Enterprises wanted to produce a modern industrial building that was aesthetically pleasing yet simple and understated. They felt that the combination of the weathered metal and black Kynar metal accomplished that, while also reflecting the downto- earth nature of Better Flooring’s business. Over time, the weathering steel rusts and creates a rustic look. A single-slope roof adds a modern take to complement the office and warehouse sections of the building.”
On the roof and walls, Yanez Construction installed Borga’s 24-gauge, steel HR345 corrugated, exposed fastener panels in Kynar Pitch Black. The wall panels are horizontal.
Also on the walls, Yanez Construction installed Borga’s 22-gauge steel HR345 corrugated, exposed fastener panels in A606 weathering steel, oriented vertically.
To construct the 12,600-square-foot building, Yanez Construction Inc. erected Borga’s metal building system.
For structural support framing, cold-formed members were used as secondary framing (purlins and girts). The main framing includes welded beams (rigid frames).
Yanez Construction installed Borga’s 12-, 14- and 16-gauge coldformed galvanized steel Z-members and C-members. Also, Yanez Construction installed Borga’s three-plate built-up welded beams painted with a grey primer finish and painted black on-site.
