Elro Manufacturing’s new 24,500-square-foot metal fabrication plant has two main sections: a three-story hybrid office building with a single-ply roof in the front connected to a production warehouse with a gable roof in the back.
The office building has a hybrid structure. Its exterior primary frames are regular metal building system components, and the floors are conventional steel bar joists and deck. Interestingly, Steel Worx Solutions LLC, erector for the project, used Elro Manufacturing’s own metal composite material (MCM) panels in Metallic Gray to clad the exterior of the office building. The MCM is broken up on the façades with vertical bands of Dark Gray fiber cement boards and, in between the metal panel joints, concealed LED lighting that gives the facility a distinct appearance at night.
Steel Worx built both sections with metal building systems from Kirby Building Systems. For the roof on the production warehouse, which as a 42-foot-high eave, Steel Worx constructed a two-layer roof system. The primary layer is made of Kirby’s 24-gauge PBR panels that function as decking. The secondary layer is made of Kirby’s 24-inch CFR panels in White. In a 6-inch ventilated space in between the layers, Steel Worx installed fiberglass batt insulation rated R-30. For walls on the production warehouse, Steel Worx installed Kirby’s PBR metal wall panels in White.
