Wooden Nickel Pub, Valdosta, Ga.

When a local landmark restaurant’s overflow of customers demanded a second location, owners Michael Woodruff and Walt Gill decided not to only open another restaurant, but to increase the property’s value by developing a mixed-use facility. The Wooden Nickel Pub is the retail center’s anchor, with the other businesses being a mix of retail outlets and offices. At a total of 19,250 square feet (1,788 m2), space considerations was of the utmost concern. Aesthetics also played a role in the project, as project manager Gill wanted this second location to reflect the personality of the landmark restaurant’s original location. Vulcan Steel Structures Inc. supplied a metal building for the project.
