Mortenson Construction Achieves Safety Milestone in Chicago

Mortenson Construction’s Chicago office has not had a single job-related illness or injury in more than two years and more than 300,000 craft worker hours. This injury-free record is six times longer than the industry average, which is one OSHA recordable incident for every 50,000 hours, according to 2010 Bureau of Labor Statistics. An Occupational Safety and Health Administration recordable incident is any work-related illness or injury which results in loss of consciousness, missed time from work, restricted work duties, transfer to another job, or requires medical treatment beyond first aid. In 2011, Mortenson achieved 1 million hours without a job-related illness or injury, involving more than 2,100 team members working on 158 projects across North America.
