JLG Industries Inc., based in McConnellsburg, Pa., published Adopting a Culture of Safety, a white paper outlining six steps companies can take to create safe, productive workplaces. Topics addressed in the paper are how to adapt environment, health, and safety (EH&S) programs to meet safety expectations, implement strategies for training, coordinate successful shift-to-shift hand-offs, plan for emergencies, use signage to keep people informed, and regroup to prevent repeat mistakes.

Building on concepts and strategies outlined in its earlier white paper, 10 Tips for Creating a Safety-Focused Work Culture, the Adopting a Culture of Safety white paper covers creating and maintaining a workplace safety culture that goes beyond following OSHA standards, wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), following training videos, having safety captains and issuing incident reports.
