Steel Tube Institute Appoints New Chairman of HSS Committee

The Steel Tube Institute (STI) announced that John Simon, Vice President of Sales for EXLTUBE, has been appointed Chairman of the organization’s HSS (Hollow Structural Steel) Committee. The HSS Committee is dedicated to growing knowledge of and preference for HSS – hollow steel shapes used as structural elements in a variety of manufactured products, buildings, bridges and other structures. Simon was named to the position of Chairman, which carries a one-year term, during STI’s Annual Meeting in November with the appointment becoming active as of January 1, 2013.

As Vice President of Sales at EXLTUBE, Simon is instrumental in growing the company to meet the needs of clients requiring the fabrication of mechanical and structural tubing. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the company. Previous to his involvement with EXLTUBE, Simon held a number of management positions with LTV-Copperweld in Chicago including Director of Sales and Marketing. Prior to that, he served as General Manager of Sales and Marketing at Copperweld Corporation, where he was responsible for developing the marketing and sales strategy for Copperweld Structural Group.
