Chief Buildings achieves IAS AC472 accreditation

Chief Buildings is pleased to announce that its manufacturing facilities have received International Accreditation Service AC472 accreditation. IAS AC472 is a new high-quality standard replacing the former AISC-MB certification program. It is written specifically for the metal building industry in cooperation with the Metal Building Manufacturers Association. In order to continue MBMA membership, companies must achieve AC472 accreditation by Dec. 31, 2010. IAS AC472 was developed specifically for metal building systems. It addresses primary framing fabrication and light-gauge welded fabrication, cold-formed fabrication and metal building system engineering. These important advantages of the IAS AC472 accreditation serves contractors, architects, code officials and building owners in the metal building industry. AC472 accreditation is a major expansion to the existing IAS AC172 standard which simply addresses primary framing fabrication and structural welding.
