The United States Department of Energy (DOE) recently recognized Kingspan Insulated Metal Panels for its accomplishments as a partner in their Better Buildings, Better Plants Program. The DOE’s program is a national partnership initiative with the goal to drive significant improvement in energy efficiency across the U.S. industrial sector. Industry partners, such as Kingspan Insulated Panels, are taking a leadership role in energy efficiency and serve as models for other manufacturers to follow.
Through the Better Plants Program, Kingspan has joined in a voluntary pledge to lower energy intensity by at least 25% over a 10-year period. In their annual reporting, obligation figures indicate Kingspan has achieved a 19.4% improvement in energy efficiency, showing significant progress in meeting its pledge target. Paul Bertram, Kingspan’s Director of Environment and Sustainability, and Ian Manser, Kingspan’s Certified Energy Engineer, worked closely with the DOE on this initiative and have been key participants in this market leader effort to meet the corporate mandate of Net Zero Energy by 2020.
