The Metal Building Contractors & Erectors Association (MBCEA) opened its Building of the Year contest to member companies. The entry deadline is Feb. 26. Winners will be announced at the 55th annual conference in San Diego in April.
“The Building of the Year contest is the premier event for metal building contractors and erectors to show off their work,” says Sasha Demyan, MBCEA executive director. “Last year was a record year for entries with an amazing variety of buildings and projects, and we expect even more this year.”
Entries must fit into one of four separate categories: agricultural, manufacturing, commercial, and community. One entry will be crowned as the 2024 Building of the Year, and, for each of the four project categories, based on qualified submittals, an award will be presented to the winner of the category.
The Building of the Year winning project will be the subject of promotional videos for use by the MBCEA and the winner. Additionally, all entries will be automatically entered into Metal Construction News’ (MCN) Project Excellence Awards program.
Entries will be reviewed by a panel of industry judges based on criteria including aesthetics, unusual or interesting features, quality/safety, complexity, and green building elements. To be eligible, projects must have been completed after Jan. 1, 2023, by an MBCEA contractor member. Nonmember companies can join MBCEA by the entry deadline to be eligible for the contest.
