
Organizers of METALCON 2024 are requesting applications for educational presentations. A variety of formats may be used including case studies, panel discussions, product comparisons and contrasts, point-counterpoints, small group discussions/roundtables, hands-on learning, tips, tricks, and hacks.
Educational sessions take place in the trade show’s Learning Centers and Main Theater, which are located inside the Exhibit Hall. They are 60 minutes long including a question-and-answer period, and are included with registration.
Educational sessions focus on metal-related challenges and opportunities of:
- General contractors, subcontractors in commercial, residential, industrial, or institutional construction
- Designers, specifiers, architects
- Engineers
- CEOs, general managers, owners, presidents, principals
- Sales and marketing leaders
- Project managers
- Facilities managers
- Foremen/crew leaders
- Installers/technicians
- Human resources/workforce development personnel
In addition to educational sessions, presentations include workshops. In-depth workshops take place in meeting rooms, are four to eight hours long, and cost an additional registration fee.
Workshop topics may include:
- Technical aspects of building and construction related to metal, from basic to advanced concepts
- New or updated building codes
- Challenges pertaining to specialty contractors
- Case studies featuring new or soon-to-be completed projects
- Pricing forecasts for the next two-plus years related to specialty contractors
- Compatibility between systems (rainscreens, etc.)
- Designing and specifying metal for roofing, walls, cladding, etc.
- Metal in architecture and design
- Construction technologies benefits, challenges, implementation, and/or resources
- Metal construction safety
- Business strategies including project management, sales, marketing, legal, etc.
- Sustainability, resiliency, solar, off-site/modular construction
- Updating buildings, and/or increasing resiliency with retrofit metal roof and wall systems
Presentations should qualify for general AIA learning units, or health, safety, welfare credits. Submissions are due Feb. 14.
