METALCON invited attendees to a tour of the Valley of Fire led by Adam Bautz, founder and lead guide at Outdoor Travel Tours LLC, based in Las Vegas, and a corporal in the United States Marine Corps., retired.
The half-day tour will take place on Monday, Oct. 20, approximately 50 miles from Las Vegas in the Mojave Desert. The Valley of Fire spans more than 16,187 ha (40,000 acres) of Aztec red sandstone, offering stunning landscapes, desert vegetation and wildlife, and a rich cultural history.
The tour will be customized for METALCON attendees of all abilities, following custom routes created by Bautz. Transportation will be provided.
A Semper Fi and America’s Fund apprenticeship program graduate, Bautz served four years as an infantry machine gunner in the United States Marine Corps. Bautz says he faced significant challenges transitioning to civilian life and found healing and reflection in nature and the outdoors. Today, he shares the therapeutic power of nature with tourists.
At METALCON in 2023, Bautz and Nicole Bautz, his wife, participated in a charitable check presentation ceremony for the Semper Fi and America’s Fund. METALCON will donate $50 from each tour registration to the Semper Fi and America’s Fund.
