The Metal Building Manufacturers Association (MBMA) has released the seventh video in its “Travels with Tony” series.

This 2-minute and 42-second presentation brings Tony Bouquot, MBMA general manager, to the AdventHealth Sports Park at Bluhawk. This 24,155 m² (260,000 sq sf) sports and recreation center is located in Overland Park, Kansas, and features multiple metal buildings, including an ice hockey rink, basketball and volleyball courts, an entertainment center, a bowling alley, a lap pool, and more.

“Sports and recreation centers need what metal building systems offer,” notes Bouquot. “This includes large clear spans with lots of open space for rinks, courts and fields, plenty of flexibility and inviting aesthetics. AdventHealth Sports Park offers all of these and more. It’s a great place to have some fun, play a few games – on and off the court – and get fit.”

The nearly six-acre facility hosts 3.8 million visitors annually and features an NHL-regulation ice rink, eight basketball courts convertible to 16 volleyball/pickleball courts, a 3,716 m2 (40,000-sf turf field, a world-class sports performance training center, and Hawk’s Outpost. This family entertainment center, offers arcade games, bowling, laser tag, esports, sports simulators, a virtual reality dark ride, and a thrilling roll glider. The metal building systems provide the clear spans necessary for the rink, courts and
fields, while also the flexibility for any changes that might be needed. The exterior of metal panels over concrete base walls is attractive and inviting to users and guests.

“The sports park exemplifies what makes metal building systems so popular. AdventHealth is great facility for so many different uses–it’s a place that people want to visit and use.”
