Low-slope roofing manufacturer MuleHide has expanded its network of training facilities by opening a new training center in Englewood, Colo. According to a media release, it will give the company’s customers and associates in the West region convenient access to ongoing in-person, hands-on training.
It is the company’s fourth location in its network of regional training facilities. Like the others, it will provide in-depth instruction in all the commercial roofing products and systems the company offers.
“Training is one of the most important things we do,” says Alisha Parker, training manager for MuleHide. “We offer industry-leading products, but they won’t perform that way if they’re installed incorrectly or used in a situation they’re not intended for. That’s where training comes in.”
Parker continued, “This center will make it easy for our contractors, distributors, and associates in the West region to get the training they need to ensure that the right products go on every roof, that the products are installed to specification, that jobs go smoothly and safely, and that everyone stays up-to-date on the latest developments in the ever-changing commercial roofing industry.”
The 455 m2 (4,900-sf) facility is specifically designed for roofing training. Courses begin with classroom-style instruction to provide a foundational understanding of the topic. Participants typically then watch the instructor work in a demonstration before getting hands-on experience doing it themselves.
The center’s large classroom is equipped to host video presentations, discussions and team meetings. Most of the space, however, is devoted to hands-on work. Among the features are:
- A 3.048 m by 9.75 m by 0.61 m (10-ft by 32-ft by 2-ft) mock parapet roof retrofitted with a system for demonstrating and practicing the correct way to complete any detail.
- Ergonomic 1.21 m by 2.44 m by 10.97 m (4-ft by 8-ft by 36-ft) standing training tables where participants can practice completing details without bending and stooping.
- Custom-designed roll racks that dispense roof membrane for use in training.
MuleHide also has training centers in Beloit, Wisc., Avenel, N.J, and Orlando.
